Dental Bridge

A dental bridge is made up two , three or more crowns on each side of a gap in the mouth. The anchoring teeth are called retainers and the artificial teeth we put between them are called pontics. These pontics are made from zirconia, gold, alloys or some other types of porcelain or a combination of these materials. Dental bridges must be supported by two or more natural teeth or dental implants.

Bridges can help with:

Ability to chew and speak

Enhanced smile

Maintain shape of our face

Replace missing teeth and distribute the forces in our bites

Bridges prevent our other teeth from tilting and drifting out of position

Three types of bridges we use at my Tehran dentist:

Conventional bridges : Most common type of bridges which are made of porcelain fused to precious metal .

Maryland bridges: Metal or porcelain wings are bonded to existing teeth.

Cantilever bridges: Not common anymore with only one retainer on one side only.

It is much better to have a dental Implant than a dental bridge if the bone allows this.
