For extreme tooth pain, the best over the counter painkillers for a toothache are NSAD drugs, or NSAIDs for short. These include ibuprofen 600 mg ( Available in all drug stores in Iran ), or even better, Gelofen 400 mg if you can get hold of it. Ibuprofen is sold both as a generic version (cheaper!) and under many brand names like Gelofen 400 mg or 600 mg. The most common names in Iran are Nurofen & Advil and Motrin. Be cautious if you have asthma and always read the
